A Financing Institution in the Co-operative Sector in the name “The Bhavasara Kshatriya Co-operative Society Ltd., has started in the year 1916 to alleviate the great hardship and clinching pecuniary problems of the kith & kin in and around Bengaluru City. Pithamaha Sri.B.S Ranoji Rao along with equally noble people like Sriyuths Samaja Mitra V.M Dhondoji Rao Phutane, K.P. Siddoji Rao, Sri Pissay Nanjappa Rao, Sri.Akkanni Rao etc., pioneered the issue with hardly 30 members and housed in one of the member’s house, which later on shifted to a rented shop. The great gospel of “all for one and one for all” philosophy of co-operation was put into practice, strength of those who visualised this grew steadily and the society could go to the rescue of several families and saved them from devastation. In 1916, when the society was established, there were only 30 members with share amounting to 8 Rupees 12 Paise only.

Brick by brick, and stone by stone the pioneers built this Institution and celebrated its “SILVER JUBILEE” in 1940. A great demand was coming from Cantonment Bhavasars to give the members from that area the facility of paying their Instalments at their place only. This facility was possible when Sri. B. Padmanath Rao one of the very active members volunteered to manage the “PAY OFFICE”. This was a nucleus to start the Branches at Cantonment, Basavanagudi and Malleshwaram and these came into  existence steadily and the 1st one was  inaugurated on 15th December 1968, the Basavanagudi Branch on 11th March 1973 and Malleshwaram Branch on 11th November 1973. The Administrative office at city was inaugurated on 13th November 1974, apart from housing the Head Office in their own building at 24th cross, Kilari Road, Bengaluru. The great dream of “Sahakara Sadana” was a reality that came true. A few of the office bearers who have rendered invaluable contribution in building this institution were Samaj Rathna L.N. Pissay, Samaj Rathna Kripasankar Jhingade, Sri R.R. Kakade, Sri Pissay Dhondoji Rao, Samaj Mithra Sri B.M.Krishna Rao, Sri M.N.Shama Rao, Sri M.Gangadhar etc., are shining examples. In 1975 when the DIAMOND JUBILEE was celebrated the member’s strength was 2399 with a deposit of about Rs.8 lakhs. This however was not at all anywhere near the target prescribed by the Reserve Bank of India.

On 26th September 1993 our Bank, The Bhavasara Kshatriya Co-operative Bank has celebrated the “PLATINUM JUBILEE” as a mark of having completed the useful existence and its sincere service to its members and customers for the last Seventy-Five years. As on that day we had the strength of more than 6000 members with more than 30 lakhs of Share Capital, 285 lakhs of Deposits and equal amount in the form of Annual Turnover.

A concerted effort with considerable imagination, dynamism and drive in the policy which was adopted by the management in the latter parts of eighties and early parts of nineties which have paid rich dividends and saved the bank from losing its identity and also in fulfilling very important targets fixed by the Reserve Bank of India.

It is gratifying to observe the staggering figures in the last couple of years in the financial position of the Bank which are self-revealing to point out Rs.30 Lakhs and above is the Share Capital, Rs.2.8 Crores as Deposit and also there has been a substantial annual turnover which has crossed Rs. 25 Crores, apart from Rs.6 Lakhs is in the Reserve Fund.
